Supreme’s 2018 collaboration with Nan Goldin included clothing, hats, and skateboards featuring images from Goldin’s photographic exploration of gender in the 1990s. “Misty & Jim” features a cropped image of Goldin’s “Misty and Jimmy Paulette in a taxi, NYC” of 1991. American artist Brian Donnelly, known as KAWS, began his career adding his graffiti to fashion advertising on NYC bus shelters and phone booths in the 1990s. He has gone on to create a large body of work including paintings and sculpture and collaborations with toy and apparel firms. Introduced in 2016, BFF has crossed-out eyes, gloved hands, and oversized ears like KAWS’s signature “Companion” figures. But BFF’s furry exterior—reminiscent of the woolly texture of Sesame Street’s Elmo—was unprecedented for the street artist, whose sculptures typically had a smooth finish. This version was released through MoMA in 2019.

Planned for an edition of 3,000 numbered examples, it is believed that no more than 500 examples were actually produced. This plate is marked 276/3000.
