Wilton was founded in the 1930's, as an iron, and later, brass, foundry. In the 1960's, they developed "Armetale", a proprietary aluminum alloy, originally used mostly in imitation of traditional pewter.
In the 1990s Wilton produced pieces for Swid Powell by artists and architects including American jewelry designer and sculptor Robert Lee Morris. His Gardenia bowl is a table top expression of his career spanning approach to design in metal – a fusion of organic forms and futuristic visions.
