This vase, with its horn-shaped vessel for holding flowers, is at once modern and archaic. It is also emblematic of Philippe Starck’s work of the time, especially in the interior of New York’s Royalton Hotel. The vertical sheet of rectangular glass is intended to rest against a wall, hence the name of the model, "contre mur" meaning "against the wall." It is in the collections of both MoMA and The Metropolitan Museum of Art and countless others.
