Philippe Starck is one of the most widely known designers of the late 20th and early 21st centuries, working across a wide range of projects including interiors, products, even boats and spaceships. His often-fanciful work epitomizes the intersection of art and design. His 1996 "Coo Coo" Clock Radio is one of a number of home electronic items he has designed for Thomson/Alessi and other makers. At once technical and fanciful in form and function, Coo Coo is in the design collection of the Museum of Modern Art, a gift of David Whitney.
