Martin Freyer was an architect, graphic designer [he created the Volkswagen VW logo in 1938] stage designer, textile and wallpaper designer, photographer, painter, teacher, and a freelance designer of glass and porcelain for Rosenthal from 1964 to 1974. Many of Rosenthal's studio-linie or Studio Line, which included this vase, aimed to make the surfaces of objects the decoration, dispensing with color altogether. In the absence of source material that provides the actual name of this vase form, I've created my own. The hand of the maker seems evident, with a series of "Thumbprint" sized indentions across it's surface.
