Marc Newson, a Sydney native, is a global design superstar, creating furniture, interiors, suitcases, shoes, watches, yachts, cars, jets, and many other projects.
Newson wanted to start with the generic plastic cup and recreate it in delicate white porcelain, as thin as possible to mimic most accurately the original. The cups were originally conceived in 1998. In 2002, ceramic ‘paper’ plates and ‘plastic’ cutlery were added to form a full picnic set and the set is in production by Idée.
