Loet Vanderveen [1921-2015] was born in Rotterdam. Forced flee during WWII, he eventually settled in California.Although he began his artistic career working with ceramics, it wasn’t until Vanderveen switched to bronze that he achieved wider recognition. Loet Vanderveen's sculptures are celebrated for accurately capturing his animal subjects’ form and movement. This “Gorilla Classic” sculpture with a “Charcoal Patina” is number 1381 of an edition of 2500.
