Cuno Fischer (1914-1973) was a German painter; stage, textile, glass, and ceramics designer; critic; and journalist. He was also briefly both a clown and a bar pianist. Between 1962 and 1972, he created a range of bowls and vases for Rosenthal's Studio Line featuring tribal style relief decoration. Here, the raised glyphs are reminiscent of tribal scarification.
